Build a brand beyond your logo

Did you know that 76% of consumers say that giveaways and merch make them remember a brand better than digital advertising? Putting your logo on a water bottle or tote bag is easy – but creating truly branded printed products, packaging and merch that strengthen your brand takes more than that. In this guide, we explain the difference.

More than just a logo – it’s about the feeling

Printed products are an extension of your brand. It shows in the choice of product, quality, colors, and overall impression. When done thoughtfully, it becomes more than just a product – it turns into an experience the recipient associates with your company.

In fact, more than half of recipients keep a branded product for over a year. That’s why it’s important to choose something that not only reflects your brand but also serves a purpose in the recipient’s everyday life.

Think from the target audience’s perspective

The key to stronger branding is simple: put your audience first. Ask yourself:

  • What do they use every day?

  • What do they want to show off?

  • What feeling should your brand convey when they do it?

  • How can we stand out from other brands?

One tip is to invest in products that won’t just end up in a drawer – but things that are visible and used. A reusable bag, a premium mug, a hoodie, or a stylish notebook with subtle branding can create hundreds of impressions over its lifetime.

Examples of trendy and creative branding products:

  • Domino sets, playing cards, or chess games in the brand’s colors – playful yet exclusive.

  • Designed popcorn boxes or limited-edition packaging that makes everyday products Instagram-friendly.

  • Luxury sports and leisure accessories such as branded tennis balls, swim rings, or picnic kits.

  • Creative collaborations with food & beverage – coffee in branded mugs, ice cream in unique packaging, or a branded food truck.

  • Premium mugs and water bottles that are visible in every meeting and every office.

  • Hoodies, caps, and notebooks with subtle branding that are used daily and create long-lasting exposure.

Sustainability in long-term choices

A smart choice of branded product is one that actually gets used – again and again. A reusable cotton tote bag can last for years, through washes and daily use, and can therefore be used hundreds of times.

This means that every time the bag is used, your brand becomes visible – at the office, in the store, or out in the city. By choosing branded products that are used frequently, your brand maintains a continuous presence with the recipient, far beyond a single-use item.

When the recipient uses your product for a long time – and enjoys doing so – your brand automatically gains more positive associations.

We help you build more than visibility

At Avisera, we help companies create packaging, bags, and merch that do more than just get noticed. We develop printed brand products that strengthen the connection with your target audience and keep your brand alive in their everyday life.

How world-leading brands work with brand activations

Dior builds ice cream kiosks. Gucci opens gas stations. Jacquemus is releasing pink mini-stores that look like washing machines.

In an age where people’s attention is hard currency and traditional advertising is often scrolled past, the world’s most influential brands are betting on something completely different: brand activations. It’s about creating memorable, unexpected experiences that build the brand – not just sell the product.

But you don’t have to have their budget to think like them.

About brand activations

In an age where people’s attention is hard currency and traditional advertising is often scrolled past, the world’s most influential brands are investing in something completely different: brand activations. It’s about creating memorable, unexpected experiences that build the brand – not just sell the product.

Experience first – product second

Gucci has opened a gas station in California where every detail is in the brand’s color palette. Jacquemus has launched pink pop-up shops that look like candy machines, and Dior is building ice cream kiosks on beaches in the South of France. What these brands have in common? A creative idea that connects with every physical detail: packaging, printed matter and merch.

It’s no longer just about the logo on a product. It’s about making the whole experience feel right. From how the customer receives the product, to how the packaging looks, to what’s in the bag.

How world-leading brands work with brand activations

Merchandise is no longer just giveaways; designed correctly, it becomes an extension of the brand’s personality. Think paper cups for a coffee trolley, ski goggles for a winter campaign, or custom-printed tote bags that reinforce storytelling. Combine this with smart printed materials – perhaps a postcard, a personalized greeting letter or a specially designed box – and the whole impression is enhanced.

PR mailings, influencer packages and in-store events in particular are areas where this type of holistic solution makes the biggest difference. It’s when all the pieces come together – from the packing tape to the hat – that a brand really makes an impact.

You don’t have to be Jacquemus to think like Jacquemus

Working like the big brands is not about budget – it’s about idea. It’s about thinking holistically, creating something that people want to photograph, talk about and remember. That’s where packaging, merch and print become more than just surface – they become the experience itself.

NPA – Reduce your packaging fees with circular design

Since January 1, 2024, Swedish municipalities have taken over responsibility for collecting packaging waste—a task previously handled by producers through systems like FTI.
The new system brings changes to the fees for companies placing packaging on the market.
NPA, Näringslivets producentansvar, is a producer responsibility organization working to ensure that the fees are fair and transparent, while helping businesses understand the new requirements.

About NPA and what it means for you

NPA stands for Näringslivets producentansvar and is a producer responsibility organization that helps businesses meet their packaging compliance obligations in Sweden.

Following the regulatory change in 2024, producers are now responsible for financing the collection and recycling of packaging waste—by joining an approved producer responsibility organization (PRO) like NPA.

When does this apply?

The new model took effect on January 1, 2024, and stricter requirements and gradually increasing fees will be introduced until 2027.

Which businesses are affected?

Alla företag som sätter förpackningar på den svenska marknaden omfattas av reglerna – oavsett storlek, bransch eller försäljningskanal. Det gäller till exempel:

  • All companies placing packaging on the Swedish market are covered by the new rules—regardless of size, industry, or sales channel. This includes, for example:

  • E-commerce businesses selling to Swedish consumers, regardless of country of origin

  • Retailers and wholesalers

  • Companies in beauty, food, beverage, home goods, and fashion—both online and in-store

  • Distributors and logistics providers that introduce packaged goods to the market

  • Private label suppliers using their own packaging

  • Producers of secondary and transport packaging, such as boxes, mailers, or bag

  • Importers bringing pre-packaged goods into Sweden

  • Manufacturers who produce goods and package them for sale

  • Brand owners who have products made and label them with their brand

In short: if your business ensures that a packaged product reaches the Swedish market—you are responsible.

How packaging design affects your costs

Packaging fees are based on:

  • Material type – e.g., plastic, paper, or metal
  • Recyclability – the easier it is to recycle, the lower the fee
  • Design features – such as heavy printing, metallic foil, plastic windows, or laminates, which increase the cost

Smart design choices that lower your fees

  • Use mono-materials (e.g., only paper or only plastic)

  • Choose water-soluble adhesives and mineral oil-free inks

  • Avoid laminates, foils, and plastic windows

  • Keep print areas below 60% of the packaging surface

  • Avoid black plastic, which can’t be optically sorted

  • Use recycled materials where possible

We’ll help you navigate the packaging maze

At Avisera, sustainability is more than a buzzword—it’s built into how we design, produce, and collaborate. With deep expertise in design, materials, and regulations, we help you create smart, attractive, and circular packaging solutions that make a difference—for both the environment and your bottom line.

We guide you through current directives, like NPA’s updated fee structure, and make sure your packaging is future-ready.

EUDR and the new traceability requirements

The EU has taken a new step in its efforts to protect the world’s forests. The new legislation – the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) – means that companies handling certain raw materials in the EU will now have stricter traceability requirements in their supply chains. The regulation aims to reduce the EU’s contribution to global deforestation and forest degradation.

About the directive and what it means

The EUDR covers raw materials such as wood, paper, soy, palm oil, cocoa, coffee and beef – as well as certain products containing these raw materials. Under the regulation, companies must be able to demonstrate that these products have not contributed to deforestation or forest degradation, and that they have been legally produced according to the laws of the country of origin.

To comply, companies must carry out a due diligence process, which involves:

  • Traceability down to the geo-coordinate level
  • Risk assessment of the supply chain
  • Documentation and reporting in an EU-wide syste

When do the rules apply?

The Directive was originally due to apply on December 30, 2024, but has now been postponed by the European Commission. The new date of application is:

  • December 30, 2025 for large companies
  • June 30, 2026 for small and medium-sized enterprises

Which businesses are affected?

The regulation applies to all companies that import, sell or export the raw materials or products concerned within the EU. This means that companies in the beauty, retail, wholesale and e-commerce sectors may also be affected – for example if their products contain

  • Palm oil – common in cosmetics and skincare products
  • Cocoa or coffee – found in both food and cosmetic products
  • Wood or paper – used in packaging, gift boxes and signage

Companies that do not manufacture these products themselves, but resell them under their own brand, are also covered. So the requirements apply whether you are a manufacturer, distributor or retailer.

What does this mean for you as a business?

If you buy or sell products covered by the EUDR, it is important to ensure that your supplier:

  • Can demonstrate full traceability of content and origin
  • Has documentation that the products are legally produced and have not contributed to deforestation
  • Already working on transparency in their supply chains

More documentation may be required than before, and it will be even more important to work with suppliers who have control over their entire chain – from raw material to finished product.

How we can help you as your packaging supplier

As your partner in packaging and printed branded products, we can help you to:

  • Ensure traceability of products covered by the EUDR – for example, wood and paper-based packaging

  • Work with suppliers who comply with the new EU requirements, and who can provide documentation on origin and legal production
  • Advise on material choices and certifications, such as paper materials from sustainable forestry that facilitate compliance with the legislation
  • Simplify administration by bringing together documentation, origin and information in a single flow

We closely follow the development of the EUDR and ensure that our supply and processes are in line with the requirements. Together with you, we ensure that your packaging is both high quality – and highly traceable.

Streamline Your Branded Print Product Purchases

Managing the procurement of branded print products such as packaging, bags, packing tape, and merch can be a complex and time-consuming process. With multiple suppliers, different material options, and various printing techniques, keeping track of costs and inventory quickly becomes a challenge. But there is a solution: consolidating your purchases with a partner who understands your brand and can create a seamless process from production to delivery.

Common Challenges in Procuring Printed Products

Many companies face the same issues when it comes to sourcing branded print products:
Too many suppliers: Coordinating purchases from multiple vendors creates administrative work and increases the risk of inconsistent branding.
Inconsistent design and quality: When different products are produced by different suppliers, it can be difficult to ensure consistency in logos, colors, and material choices.
Difficulty tracking inventory levels: Ordering from multiple sources can lead to disorganized inventory management, increasing the risk of running out of essential products.
Hidden costs and inefficient logistics: Small orders from multiple suppliers often lead to higher shipping costs and unnecessary administrative burden.

Sustainability concerns: Managing sustainability efforts across multiple suppliers can be difficult, leading to inconsistent material choices, unnecessary waste, and challenges in tracking environmental impact.

The Solution: A One-Stop Partner for Branded Print Products

By consolidating all your printed products with a single partner, you can streamline your procurement process and create a more cohesive brand experience. Here are three key reasons why this approach makes sense:

1. Reduced Administration and Improved Control

Instead of managing multiple suppliers, you have one dedicated contact who fully understands your product needs. This saves time and simplifies procurement planning.

2. Consistent Quality and Branding

A single-source supplier ensures that all your products maintain the same quality and visual identity, whether it’s packaging, tote bags, or packing tape.

3. Efficient Inventory Management and Logistics

By incorporating warehousing services, you can reduce the risk of stock shortages while optimizing purchases to save on both shipping and production costs.

4. More Sustainable Choices

A centralized approach to branded print products allows for better oversight of material choices, production methods, and supply chain sustainability. By working with a partner who prioritizes eco-friendly materials and responsible sourcing, you can minimize waste and make more informed decisions that align with your sustainability goals.

Assignment

Unlimited design of Haupt Lakrits Christmas calendar 2024
Client: Haupt Lakrits

Haupt Lakrits AB, known for their crazy flavor combinations of licorice and their equally crazy graphic identity, enlisted the help of Avisera’s graphic designers to create an updated design for their 2024 Christmas calendar. The goal of the assignment was to create a Christmas calendar that both reinforces Haupt’s brand identity and engages their target audience in an innovative way.

Process

Avisera started the project with a creative meeting with the client. Based on the client’s brief and inspirational images, we formed a clear idea of the feel and style that would characterize the calendar. The process included research, development of an idea and design proposal, and creation of all the graphic elements needed.

Result

Since Avisera was also commissioned to produce the calendars, we were able to develop a design that was optimized from the start based on the printing template, cost efficiency and construction. The result was a creative Christmas calendar in three different parts: sleeve, outer packaging and inner box.
